RECLAIMED SLATE CLOCK
I will endeavour to have displayed at least one reclaimed clock at all times. These slate clocks are very popular for their beauty and history, each one varies according to the needs of the piece of slate being reclaimed. I use minimal marking on these slate clocks, so as not to distract from their natural beauty.
I like to use reclaimed Cornish slate for a number of reasons, primarily because the weathered look is extremely attractive and the variations on these old slates are unusual and can be very beautiful. Secondly, these slates have done good service on a roof for maybe hundreds of years and to recycle them in a new form saves on the environmental impact of my work and, of course, because they are Cornish.
This clock is fitted with a silent sweep quartz movement, with gold coloured hour, minute and second hands, and comes complete with a 1.5v battery, which will keep the clock running for approximately 2 years. All clocks have an integral hanger.
This natural slate clock is made from reclaimed Cornish Delabole slate and is beautifully marked by the mineral inclusions and the natural weathering of the slate. Hand polished to a smooth surface it has been shaped by eye to a rough circle to complement the time-worn features of the slate. It is about 22 cm in diameter with the hours are marked by small gold-circled silver dots so as not to distract from the natural beauty of the slate.
This Clock is SOLD - a replacement one is being made
