DESCRIPTION
MERMAID PAINTING ON SLATE
This Mermaid swims away through the sea that left ripples on the surface of this Slate millions of years ago. The use of translucent metallic paints has created a shimmering quality.
About 20 cm by 8 cm this wall plaque is made form Cornish Slate from St. Dominick that once protected a house over 500 years old. Removed in the 1950s to make way for a thatched roof, this slate was only recently re-discovered and has been used for both clocks and paintings
The plaque hangs from rustic twine threaded through one of the holes that was used to peg this slate to the original roof and has a felt pad on the back to rest against the wall
