KERNOW / CORNWALL FRIDGE MAGNET

Created on a 'naturally shaped' section of black Cornish slate from Carnglaze, this fridge magnet has the Cornish Flag and the words Cornwall and Kernow  (Cornish for Cornwall)

The Flag is St. Piran's Cross, which represents the legend in which St. Piran (or Perran) lit a fire upon a black hearthstone, which was actually a slab of tin-bearing rock. The heat from his fire caused the tin to melt and as it did so it rose to the top in the shape of a cross, hence the white cross on the black background.

March the 5th is St. Piran's saints day and more and more it is being celebrated by the Cornish (and those who have adopted Cornwall as their home)
